Thank you Kwams for taking the time to post your wonderful alternative suggestion and if this ever happens again I'll give it a go ...
I had already 'dry brined' the turkey two days prior, so did the rest of the prep and moved everything to my older son's house and we had Christmas dinner there. It was very challenging transporting all the stuff and using an oven and kitchen which I was not used to but it turned out okay.
Dinner was roast turkey, hasselback roast potatoes, roasted maple syrup glazed parsnips, two types of stuffing (chestnut [marron] and the other was raisin/walnut), chipolatas wrapped in bacon, French carrots glazed with orange marmalade/ginger, sautéed brussel sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce.
Desert was traditional English
mince pies
and
Christmas pudding
flambéed with brandy and served with custard, brandy butter and cream .... all very boozy !!
Oh and breakfast for Christmas & Boxing Day was traditional Guyanese pepperpot and garlic pork

An unidentified male suspect reportedly defaced the Masjid-e-Tawheed mosque in Las Vegas over the weekend by wrapping the building's door handles with strips of raw bacon. According to local police, surveillance footage shows worshippers discovering the pork on Sunday morning. Investigators are treating the incident as a hate crime.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
