I cook many times a week because I simply love cooking... and eating come to think of it. Frankly, eating out sounds such a dumb thing to me now, so I basically taught myself everything awesome that you can eat out

So I won't have to eat out. All of my friends go nuts about the food and it really is a lot of fun.

Nargis did not think to make a deal before she got married......
dat seems very important for 'ethnics' ..for want of a better term..who live in the the so-called developed world..who moved in, or grew up here anyway, with all their traditions intact.
taking a night off by ones own decision clashes with everything we all came up to expect from a wife. yet a wife who is independent in every way and tradition ethnic women were/are not, is a new thing for an ethnic man to deal with. there are developments in the 'advanced' reality he will at best find great difficulty coping with. but he has no choice
that is why a deal before marriage was essential. and if not then, then now a deal has to be fleshed out that addresses to some satisfactory extent the needs of both parties..or the relationship will sunder

I did not know what I said then... but by lived experience I came to see what I just said.
its simple indeed..on paper. its not so easy in actual life.

I cook for myself! Mainly cereal/toast, eggs or an omelette if I'm feeling real fancy, but I'm proud that I can at least do basic dishes like chicken/rice, pasta and even a quiche.

i went home Friday and was met with apology after apology after apology.
I also apologized for alot of the mean things i said as well.
We did talk it out and he promised that he will learn more about cooking and doing what he can to help out.
that was all i ever asked for.
and he was made to understand that it NOT MY DUTY to cook for him. once we got that cleared...i was fine.
thanks for all the feedback.

Mapiou - the only thing I can say is that MOTHERs should not train their children..boy or girl to be dependant upon them for everything. IT is your job as a parent to ensure your children know how to cook, clean and take care of themselves.
Sadly, alot of families and women with indian background are brainwashed with years and years of Womens duties VS Mens duties. Forcing women to bear the brunt of the household duties AND having to work at the same time. It is just not possible, not in todays world anyway.
I used to think before time that whenever I got married I would want to quit my job and stay home...after these last couple months...I have completely changed my mind. Working and earning and learning only makes for a stronger mind and stronger sense of self. That is something I wont give up.
