I’ll start with an exacta and trifecta that includes my top four selections. I will play a trifecta box with Nyquist, Exaggerator, Mor Spirit, and Mohaymen. The trifecta will have 24 possible combinations and I’ll play it for one dollar ($24). For the trifecta to cash, I will need my choices to finish first, second, and third in any combination.

I am not the biggest racing fan out there, but I do have to say that I enjoy watching the Kentucky Derby, and I really am not sure why to be quite honest. There is just something about it that captivates me and gets my attention, and I know that I am not alone there either. The best part for me is the names of the horses...that always makes me laugh.

I really disliked those 2 horses..especially exaggerator. I tried really hard to beat them...and the only hors that could do it was Mohaymen.
but my handicapping revealed that the only negative factor in that possibility was the jockey of Mohaymen Junior Alvarado.
if there is a jockey who can who and let down in prime time it is Alvarado... and let down he did.
you in the Derby the biggest moment in horse racing, the biggest moment in your racing career and what happens you let down. you get a bad start putting, you behind the 8-ball with the a 2.2 million dollar horse, prolly the best horse in the field.
that is the problem with Mohaymen..the rider they stuck with. a great horse must have a good rider, one who can do the job. he does not have to be a great rider but once he is a sort who does not let down. there are lots of jockeys in the states who do not have great names but who are really competent and tough..who never let down when they have opportunity
Alvarado is not one of them. still I said if there is going to be an upset it was bound to be Mohaymen. the odds were right and worthy of a shot at 11 to 1.
so he gets a bad start and ends up fourth with a stupid ride.
if they are going to make some noise in the rest of the triple crown they must get Alvarado off that horse. Joel Rosario is available. let them put him up and we have a new ball game

I took home nutten from the Derby.....
I was playing around with the race as I too often do. at times I get really pissed at myself for these habits..always trying to do the impossible, always trying to manufacture results that are only possible but not likely.
maybe that is what they call trying to be like go..or feeling I am god or some such crap. I knew the weak link with Mohaymen was the jockey. I told them that before the race at the track..that Alvarado would find a way to loose the effing race.
it is part of handicapping a race to work out the jockeys as well as the horse and most importantly the trainer..the main impse in the brew. I know Alvarado for years now and I have known him to be exactly as I have described. for that reason alone I should not have played Mohaymen, certain as daylight he would be given a winning ride.
but to produce an only very marginal result I still went with him trying for the 11 to 1 odds.
I do those things man and then get vex with myself for doing what I know wont happen..going against what I know trying to play god.
in that way I am my own worst enemy at the track. I am too smart for my own good which equates to being an arse of great sorts.
anyhow I will make them pay in the races coming up. I will get back all my my money and more
