Al Queda is entirely a product of western policy, and we know the US and UK have provided such groups with passports, arms, money and intel.

And of course Assad wouldn't even be in power had the British and Americans not repeatedly tried to coup Syria in the 1950s.

Fast forward to the early 2000s, and the US knock out Saddam - himself a CIA puppet trained in Beirut specifically for regime change - plunging Iraq into a civil war. Helping the west knock out Saddam were several Sunni groups, some of whom claimed to be "Al Queda Iraq". The west gave them arms and money and promised them leadership positions once Saddam was removed. Saddam was removed, but then the Americans quickly put Shia political parties in power instead, knowing that this would provoke a civil war. And so Iraq continues to be in turmoil, a turmoil designed specifically to balkanize the nation into smaller nations (Kurds, Sunnis, Shias etc). The US even passed a law several years ago making it legal to partition Iraq. The current Iraqi government has repeatedly veoted this suggestion. The civil war will continue until balkanization is accepted, or the US gets tired of fanning flames.

Whilst the civil war in Iraq boils, Sunni groups, some who identify as Al Queda, cross the border into Syria. Some call themselves Isis, but most receive funding, intel and backing from the US and think-tanks in London. The Western goal was the balkanization of Iraq and the swift toppling of Assad, allowing pipelines to link the Gulf Coast (Saudis, Qatar etc) to Europe via Iraq and Syria, but none of their damned plans every work out as planned. So everyone burns until Assad falls or Iraq accepts the partition. But Iraq wont accept and Russia and Iran won't let Assad fall. So stalemate. People die. Time ticks. The whole world will ditch oil for solar power by the time this dumb game of chicken ends.

Radical muslims today are used the same way radical catholics and fascists were used between 1880 and 1960. In those days, the big nations used Christian militants and nazis to kill socialists and anti imperialists. Now we use muslims to topple governments for us.
