Back in the ole days, i remember helping my ajee and mom beating eggs to make all sorts of cake.  Then taking it to our neiba who had this outside brick oven to bake.  The smell of the cakes....I can still smell them! 

man, those were the days....

we were the naybah with the brick oven....the very first one in our village  :)
the line up to bake cake in that oven started early xmas eve morning

later we got a coal-pot oven

was a metal oven (square box with a shelf) which sat over the coal pot.

later....we got a 3-burner stand-alone stove

and an oven that would fit over two of the burners

the naybahs would bring their cake mix and some kero :)

exactly!  the meeting of the village people at that one home!  Another opportunity to get to know more about the folks living in your village.

yes!!!  another classic innovative move by the ole folks!  Sardine cans, etc were used to bake the cakes!

remember the egg-beather.......used to kill my arms/shoulders to get that egg fluffy
(now i plug in and in less than 1 min i have nice beaten eggs  :o )
