oh my. i wonder if they knew my ajee and aja (whom she married on the ship before they landed in gy)
Googs, that would mean that they were older than my ajee. were they alrady married and had your parent?
maybe they watched out for my ajee during the voyage??

that was a very important connection for the indentures.
we still keep in touch with one such family......their grand parents and mine went to gy on the same ship and were bound for the same estate.
when i was growing up i always thought they were my blood cousins. in my late teens then i found out otherwise.....but it did not make any difference to how we felt about each other.

my great aja/ajee also got married on the ship! lol.
I would have loved to know but there is no one to ask now. I do know that the Jahajis were close and kept in touch with each other. And they did watch out for each other. Mine went to Plantation Albion.

mine stayed in Demerara - not sure which estate but I want to say Ruimveldt (was there on in ruimveldt?)
If they were on the same ship they probably lost touch with each other simply because of the plantations they were sent to and it was probably impossible for them to communicate.
sad, eh?...losing that connection?

Out of curiosity...i would like to know "how" they got married? Not to criticize them, but to understand the logistics of it all. Because I hear plenty of these stories...but the truth factor?

I mean who officiated? What type of 'ceremony' was there? Did they celebrate the honeymoon....wait that was a cruise...so perhaps they did.

All of the early ships were barques so it is common knowledge that the later ones were all SS. While there were more than one Ganges – Ganges II and Ganges. The last Ganges sailed from Calcutta on 28 February 1916.
