The Vietnamese constituted a political movement with near total local, popular support. The US artificially divided Vietnam in disregard of Geneva negotiations (becase Eisenhower knew over 80 percent of the population would vote for Ho Chi Minh). The US put in place and backed psycho puppet leaders in the artificially created South. The US did everything it could to prevent unification and scuttle elections. 4 million Vietnamese would die due to this. More bombs were dropped by the US than in all previous wars combined. Tens of thousands were assassinated by the CIA's Phoenix Program. The US threatened dropping nukes 13 times. Their landmines still kill Vietnamese to this day (52000 and counting). The US dropped millions of gallons of poison, herbicide and chemicals , and was directly responsible for the rise of the Khmer Rouge under Pol Pot (later supported with 89 million dollars) in Cambodia, and the genocide which took place afterwards. Worse, it faked both Tonkin Gulf incidents as a pretext to start the war, ensured that five million villagers were forcibly displaced, that political prisoners were jailed/tortured in "tiger cages" and that 90 percent of Northern levees, hospitals, villages, towns and industries were intentionally bombed. The US has similarly destabilised over 80 countries in the past 100 years. And you are telling me this is a "natural thing" with "no cause" which the "universe does to get rid of poor people".
What's hilarious is that the US has long disagreed with you all who are calling for violence. US policy is already "avoid killing the Taliban within Afgahnistan" - they realize this is futile - but to bribe them and give them political power. The World Bank commisioned a report which explicitly advised this: give the Taliban power. Let them rule. So you now have Taliban members with billions of dollars controlling villages and cities. They make deals with the US; we don't blow up your contractors and pipes, you pay us and let us rule. As usual, this will lead to worse problems.
