Hopes that Ukraine can get back on track were hit on Wednesday, when the country's president warned that the probability of war with Russia had risen and its economy minister resigned in protest at what he saw as endemic corruption.  Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the risk of "open war" with Russia was "more serious than last year," in an interview with Germany's Bild newspaper published on Wednesday.
 

Carson’s Campaign Cuts 50+ Staffers

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders clashed Thursday night in their New Hampshire debate as they each fought to establish their progressive credentials as the Democratic presidential primary race heats up. The former secretary of state accused her democratic socialist rival of running a campaign of “innuendo” against her, while the Vermont senator contended that Clinton is part of the Wall Street-funded “establishment” that controls the political process. Clinton dismissively responded to the accusation by calling it an “artful smear” and noting that “Under [Sanders’] definition, President Obama is not progressive because he took donations from Wall Street.” When the pair debated foreign policy, Clinton dominated by painting her opponent as inexperienced with the duties one would take on as commander-in-chief. Sanders admitted he hasn’t dealt with American allies and enemies as much as the former secretary, but added, “Experience is not the only point; judgment is. And once again, back in 2002, when we both looked at the same evidence about the wisdom of the war in Iraq, one of us voted the right way, and one of us didn’t.”

A panel of Utah lawmakers has backed a resolution that declares pornography a public health crisis. Republican state Senator Todd Weiler, who is a Mormon, argues that allowing young people to watch porn leads to relationship problems later in life. The Republicans and one Democrat on the state Senate’s health committee voted unanimously in favor of Weiler’s resolution on Friday.

North Korea launched a long-range rocket on Sunday, angering the U.S. and neighboring countries as it was conducted in violation of U.N. sanctions and comes just a few weeks after a nuclear bomb test. The country claimed that the rocket was carrying a satellite called Kwangmyongsong-4, named after deceased leader Kim Jong Il and that it would be making a polar orbit of the Earth every 94 minutes. North Korea had told U.N. agencies that it planned to launch the satellite but it caused concern as it was viewed as a test for a long-range missile.
