Mapoui ,Rain will take care of Time : Kiwis new the Forecast !
3pm Now is about the time that the forecast had rain arriving
The rain continues to fall and there's no immediate prospect of things improving.
so we can only hope things have just shifted forward a little and we might be able to get some play later on.
To try and save some time an early tea will be taken at 3.10pm but the signs are not good at the moment unfortunately.

Only one team has ever scored more than 455 in a fourth innings of a Test match - England scored 654/5 in a draw against South Africa in 1939. The highest successful fourth inning run chase is 418 set by West Indies against Australia in 2003.
Scoring runs in the fourth innings of a Test at Headingley is hard work. Over the last 50 years, only one team has scored more than 275 in the fourth innings of a Test here - England's successful chase of 315 against Australia in 2001.

My take : an overnight declaration with the score on 338 : 116 additional runs is OverKill :-[
MAY have uprooted 2 or 3 English wickets before the Rain came :
and 7 left for FINAL day !
howwzzzzz dattttt ????

At close of play last night, New Zealand had a lead of 338. I think you could have certainly made a case for declaring overnight and making good use of the new ball first thing in the morning. Getting 300 in the fourth innings at Headingley is rare - once in the last 50 years. Last year, Sri Lanka bowled England out for 249, chasing a target of 349.

McCullum has lost his "balls" : he was scared of an overnight declaration
Its a 2 Test series and you 1 down ?? show some Captaincy bravado.
all that can happen you lose 2 - zero :-[
