What is a House Negro?

I know the house and field negro to be a head game Elijah Muhammad created to make himself wealthy, so I am asking what is a house negro. To anyone who uses Elijah's terms, please explain to me what is a house negro?

For your replies. But I was hoping for your description of the term, not just calling somebody a house negro. I would like to hear your description of what the term means.

Malcolm's description is only the one taught to him by Elijah. I know that one.

But I would to like hear it from people who use the term.

From one angle, looking at the relationship between house Negroes and the white Master, it was a very friendly amicable supportive relationship where "We", the master and slave were one. Those were the happy days for Blacks.

From another angle, it was slavery against God's Law. It was this Law that bothered the conscience of Whites. However, it didn't bother a lot of Whites also.

Let's face it. Whites did not like us then, and they still don't like us now. Nothing much has changed except slavery has morphed into prisons, and Blacks still kill each other because we are the lesser people in America. Racism against Blacks is still alive and fresh as ever. And, it's not just Whites who are prejudiced against us, it's "us" who carry deep-seated hatred against our own people.

When I was a little girl, about six, my big brother who was about 20, called me Uncle Tom when I said hello to my white neighbor Mr. Jack after Mr. Jack left the area. And I was hurt. I didn't know what Uncle Tom meant but I knew that he meant it as an insult and criticizing me for saying hi to a white person, and I was hurt because I didn't understand the crime I was being charged of for simply saying hello to a white person.


But here's how life turned out in later years with my big brother....


He was amazed and couldn't get over how I stood up to two white guys in a store who tried to dupe me out of my money. I forced them to refund my deposit that they tried to keep, and my brother talked about that constantly because he couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe it because he knew that if it were him in my shoes that he would have walked away and let those guys keep his money. He would have walked away with his head between legs, and go whining about racism, uncle toms, and house negroes.


And another thing I later noticed about my big brother is how he saw white as superior to black and saw them that way all along; even on that day he called me uncle tom when I was six. I noticed it when he was released from the hospital, came home, and a white female from the hospital, somebody he met and went down on him in the hospital elevator called him. And every time she called he refused to answer and talk to her. And I asked him: "Why did you give her your number and won't talk to her when she calls?"


And he said: "Because I can't do nothing for her."


Somebody white, a perfect stranger he never seen before in his life who went down on him in an elevator he saw as somebody he want to do something for because she's white. Okay, and my point is that I noticed this same pattern in a lot of other black males. And these are often the ones who call people uncle tom and house negro. So I am asking what is a house negro because there's black people who see white as superior to themselves who use this term. They also use the term pro black. So if they actually see white as superior to black then what is a house negro and what does pro black mean?

But why do whites have to like us?

What's the big deal with being liked by whites?

What makes whites so special that blacks need to be liked by them?

A House Negro is a member of a traditionally oppressed minority, "race" or class who sides with or uses rhetoric to legitimize or support the beliefs, practises and agendas of the ruling class.
