Going by modern structure and while society and people becomes more educated, it may extinct in some countries. Depends though, countries like India and subcontinent r too deep rooted.

How do you subscribe to god without a religion????
Taking the actions os a few, and blaming hte religion is misguided, and equally damning.

It’s impossible to predict the future, but examining what we know about religion –
including why it evolved in the first place, and why some people chose to believe in it
and others abandon it –
can hint at how our relationship with the divine might play out in decades or centuries
to come. ...

No, religion will not disappear

What .. are you saying that in order to believe in a higher power, one has to be part of mainstream religion?
Are you saying that if I abandon Catholicism tomorrow, then all of a sudden God disappears and I am doomed to eternal damnation?

but....having said that
I strongly believe that there are more atheists out there than the numbers who are claiming to be
because, I also strongly believe that the people who are promoting wars, creating havoc and mayhem, those beheading and killing the innocent especially children.....anyone who can so easily kill......are all disbelievers!!!!!
No one who strongly believe in their religion should have even the desire to commit such evil to another human being.
