I have never seen a government in the modern Caribbean, which has lost its advantage in such a short period of time. For a one-seat majority government, it enjoyed the goodwill of a super-majority administration. Its leader, President Granger, was elevated to a super-star status that would earn the envy of the political titans of yesteryear.

So what you saying? All those yearly bail outs are not a sign of an industry going backwards?

What are you smoking? The people dem lazy terass. They want reparations, or dem want to get rich quick by stealing. Now it is oil that is on their mind. The majority of the Guyanese in Guyana are not risk takers, and prefer for others to burn their money on them. And the worse of it is that it includes the politicians. Jagdeo introduced another level of greed into politics. Now even the dogs want steak.

I am saying unlike what you are : Sugar Cane has multiple uses in Guyana
RUM is an extremely large export as is Molasses.
and Cane Juice, an elixir in Guyanese Life!
You are making it sound as though Cane only gives Sugar, a sweetener.
You are de one pissing in the wind ::LOL::

Bai Guyana only has about 500,000 people. That's not enough consumers to sell enough can juice etc to make such a big sugar operation successful. And how big are the rum sales exactly? When I want high quality Guyanese rums I have to order them from Luxurious Drinks in Holland. But I can walk to the local liquor store and buy a wide range of rums from Jamaica, and other WI islands. Then there are the ones from the Pacific regions. Our embassies around the world have done next to nothing to promote our rums. There might be trade restrictions on sugar and rice, but not on rums. So exactly what are our embassy and high commission people doing?

Tooks, you have a lotta questions
for a man whom is so convinced that
Cane is a losing crop !
May I suggest you follow Gypsy (above) advice
FYI According to Caribbean business executive and diplomat, Sir Ronald Sanders,
the EU agreed to establish a fund of 70 million euros under the
Eighth European Development Fund (EDF)
to facilitate the adaptation of production facilities by Caribbean rum companies.
